Beschreibung

A new microlot from Sítio Boa Vista!

We are very pleased to once again be able to offer a special coffee from Mateus and his Sítio Boa Vistain Nova Resende. This microlot of the Araravariety is available exclusively from us and represents our sustainable partnership with Sítio Boa Vista and Timo from Petunia Coffee.

In contrast to the most recently offered Boa Vista microlot, this coffee was neither fermented anaerobically nor with the addition of yeast cultures. After the harvest, the coffee cherries were fermented on a trailer under a tarpaulin. As a result, the fermentation took place under oxygen-reduced, though not completely anaerobic conditions. The cherries were subsequently dried as a natural.

The result is a Brazilian coffee that stands out significantly from a classic Brazil Natural: finer, fruitier, and more complex, without losing its typically chocolatey character.

We particularly enjoy the intense aroma of chocolate moussethat lingers on the palate. This is accompanied by fruity notes of apricot, grape, and orangeas well as a sweetness reminiscent of sugarcane. The fine acidity is harmoniously integrated and gives the espresso extra liveliness. A creamy-smooth mouthfeeland a pleasantly lingering aftertaste definitely make you want a second espresso.

This direct import was made possible by Timo Plötz. Timo lives with his family in Brazil and promotes direct trade in his region, Sul de Minas. Many thanks also toTouton Specialty Coffees, who supported us with the import.

Mateus's Boa Vista site is located approximately 2 km from the town of Petunia, a district of the municipality of Nova Resende, in the south of the state of Minas Gerais, about 70 kilometers northwest of Guaxupe, one of the centers of Brazilian coffee production. The 3,000 residents of the town and the surrounding farms have been fighting for years to have the still unpaved section of the MG-446 federal highway paved.

In this hilly region, at elevations of 950–1300 meters, there are primarily family-run farms and small businesses whose coffee plantations demonstrate great quality potential. These include the 8-hectare Sitio Boa Vista, managed by Mateus.
